Delay in alert sounding is resulted in dual sensors as some models require both sensors to go off. Some models in smoke alarms only require one sensor to be tripped in order for the alarm to sound but this creates potential for more false alarms.

Another important tip is that the alarm should have a silence button instead of disabling the whole unit. A silence button is a temporary measure and when the alarm is triggered the alarm will sound again. There is no restriction on the number of silence buttons present on the alarm.
